The $40 cave tour is an excellent experience - roam the dimly-lit labyrinth, drink great wines directly from the barrel, enjoy softly pumped-in light 'opera' and 90s favorites and let your charming Fresno-native guide regale you with tales of well-ventilated overalls and Eastern European oak from Belgium. A definite Napa Valley highlight.

Note: we went to the 'Historic Winery & Tasting Room' on Atlas Peak Rd., not the super-fancy new location pictured here. Our favorites included the 2007 Pinot Noir that opened the session and the 2007 Giovanni's Tuscan Reserve, which my esteemed tasting partner said tasted like 'Christmas'.
