Heitz wines are always finely crafted and beautifully balanced. The "Napa Valley" bottlings are among the best wine values anywhere in the world.

Unlike a lot of vineyards in Napa that pour wines only a couple of years old, Heitz Cellars let's their wines age for a few more years before making them available for purchase of a taste. Their Cabernets are bold and strong and some of my favorite in Napa Valley. The tasting room is plain but intimate and the staff take great care of you. While I'm not a huge fan of ports, be sure to try their port as it may actually change your opinions on port. The best part of the tasting room is that the tastes are free - something Napa needs to get back to. All is all, this is a can't miss stop while on a wine tour in Napa.

I was actually very disappointed. None of the wines really impressed and the host was not really interested in discussing the wines or seeing what our tastes were. I suppose it was the end of a long day for him but left us with a bad impression. The best wine was the Trailside Cabernet but at $85 was overpriced for what was only an average wine scoring in the region of 84 points.
