11/17/2009The Robert Mondavi Winery offers an exquisite experience for anyone visiting the Napa Valley area. Upon arrival, one is overtaken by the captivating beauty composing 400 acres of carefully tended vines that sit upon this billion dollar estate. Mondavi leaves a legacy of passion in his wake, inviting all guests to partake in what took him a lifetime of hard work and dedication to develop. His ambition to produce the first high-quality wine in America comparable to the fine wines of Europe makes his winery truly unique among many. A magnificent collection of Bufano artwork and beautiful fountains set upon the surrounding gardens create a relaxing, magical environment. The cherry on top of this dessert is the zealous staff full of knowledgable personnel determined to carry out Mondavi's passion for American fine wine!

When I think of scenery, this is one of the location I think of first. Basic shop and tasting as you would expect from a winery of this popularity. Merlot and Cab are my favs of this label. Interesting art about the grounds; makes for some great photographs!

Mondavi is a great place to start if you are new to wine. The wine is consistent for their low end selections and their less mainstream vintages are excellent for the connoisseurs. A bottle of their Fume Blanc or Muscat is always a welcome hostess gift. The winery is beautiful and has some great tours available. However it is large and busy. It may difficult for you to get any personal attention while visiting unless it is slow.
