Rombauer is one of the "it" Wines today, the Chardonnay is the pride of this line up and in my opinion it is good, but not near the hype that has been given to it.
When we tasted the Chardonnay was at room temp and very flat, the bottle we drank slightly chilled had solid vanilla and caramel notes, though it lacked a good honey color.
Least impressive was the Zinfandel, though a solid wine, some of the general character normally in a good zin were muted.
The winery itself is beautiful, though difficult to access and get out of. The parking lot is far too small to accomidate all the traffic that it is receiving and god help you if a limo shows up.
Enjoy the wonderful hill side gardens and trails all through the property, enjoy the chardonnay (slightly chilled) but don't fall into the hype, the Chard and Merlot, a good buy.
