Rustridge is a charming rural winery, far off the beaten track. It produces some of the best wines I've ever tasted. Proprietors Susan Meyer and Jim Fresquez are justifiable proud of their 2006 Zinfandel, which won a gold medal with four stars at the Orange County fair. Their Cabernet, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc show a hands-on approach to winemaking that yields extracted and complex wines. The Sauvignon Blanc is particularly unusual without any grassy or vegetal notes.
