Amazing!

Everything was amazing. Had their main tasting for $15. All their wines are delicious, and are worthy of being swished around in my mouth.

The...

I love the clean and modern decor. I paid $15 to choose 4 wines from their main list. The sauvignon blancs are good, but what really stands out is their...

St. Supery is a perennial favorite when bringing out of town guests (or myself) on a Napa tour. With a full selection of well-made reds (Cab Sav, Cab Franc, Petit Verdot, Merlot, and their signature Elu) there is plenty to enjoy. I am less familiar with the we selection, but if that is our preference, you won't be disappointed.

From the outside the winery appears a bit "eastern block", but walk through the doors and the tasting room is open and inviting. Upstairs is reserved for wine club members and includes a self-led winery tour and a private bar to escape from the crowd.

In addition to the excellent wine, the people shine at St. Supery. New to wine? No problem. They'll explain it. Find a wine you like? They'll pour you similar wine for comparison. Just want to shoot the breeze... they do that too. Other wineries have a flashy facade but can be impersonal, over-priced, and under-poured... Not St. Supery.

I have never walked away from this winery without buying a couple of bottles of wine... or better yet joining the wine club.

I will always have a soft spot for St. Supery. This is the first winery that I ever went to. Ever since that first visit(where I learned that chocolate was made just for Cabernet), the staff has continued to be approachable and patient with questions. I think this is the perfect winery for a newbie to wine world, as well as a fun stop for everyone else. The wine is alright, but the people are what keep me coming back.

Another must stop off for those newer to wine or the hardened veteran. Those new or already inducted will appreciate the the tours and the aroma boxes. They will take the time to educate you even if the winery is busy. The wines range from good to spectacular. Their Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Meritages, and Muscat are all worth buying and stocking up on. They also make a great Cab Franc. The Muscat is my personal favorite because while sweet it has the acidity to remain crisp and compliment more then just desert. I would actually recommend it with creamy cheese or very spicy thai food!

I'm an ardent fan of the St. Supery product line. I never miss an opportunity to visit the tasting room every time I'm in the Napa Valley.

Former CEO, Michaela Rodeno in her 20+ years as leader of the organization had a brilliant knack of attracting and developing quaility people to important jobs at the facility.

She, in my estimation, is the reason behind the success of the winery and the quality of the wines produced.

There are no better reds anywhere in the Napa Valley than the Dollarhide Cabernet and the red meritage blend Elu.

Visitors who were clever enough to join the wine club are also treated to some truly unique wines such as the Petit Verdot...talk about a mouth full of wonderfully rich flavors! The Petit Verdot is rich, thick and powerful; it pairs beautifully with simple things like a rib eye on the grill or with the complex flavors of a hearty Lamb stew.

I don't wish either to slight the brilliant and equally well made whites. Not terribly long ago we had the joy of having a Dollarhide Sauvignon Blanc to complement a first course of Delta Asparagus & Laura Chenel Goat Cheese Custard from Chef Ron Barber. Yummm...Well done, Ron!

We also have the Virtue in our cellar; this is a white that shines with the brilliant citrus of the Sauvignon Blanc when in its youth, but that embraces your taste buds with the textures of the Semillon as the wine ages. We're drinking the last now of our 2002.

My advice to any one who is looking for a truly memorable experience is that you pay the $15.00 fee and taste upstairs...first, you'll enjoy the atmosphere and the staff (if you're lucky you might even be there at a time when Michaela had dropped by) and you'll fall in love with the quality and craftsmanship of the wines.

Phone ahead if at all possible, let them know you're coming...it's not required, but I like to warn them of my arrival.

St. Supery is a great spot for tasting. Chardonnay is usually not my favorite but the St. Supery Chard is fantastic. Their Sauvignon Blancs often earn scores in the 90s from various reviewers.

The grounds are nice but not the most spectacular in Napa by any stretch. The tasting staff has always been engaging and quick to offer information about the winemaking process.
