Great escape from the stuffy tasting format. Donny is a an awesome guy, zero pretense. It's so incredibly relaxing to just be on the level with him, enjoying the wines right outside the Airstream parked on the future winery site amongst the vines. I kinda hope they never build on the property, it's such a good feel the way it is..

By the way, the wines are excellent. I have a real affinity for Spring Mountain Cabernet Franc and they have a beautiful one. Their Merlot and Zin are also special.

This Winery is one of my favorites, although I have only been there once, so you know it makes that big of an impresario. The main host meets you out in a field in an old restored "Tin Trailer" on part of their property. This really adds to the atmosphere and keeps things very personal and friendly. The Cab Franc is by far one of my favorites, and their Rendezvous is phenomenal. Appointments are a must because they do not have a house open to public. Definitely a stop one should make while in St. Helena.
